Biosafety is defined as a complete program of administrative controls, medical surveillance, vaccination, and containment strategies for reducing the risk of disease to employees facing potential occupational exposure to infectious agents or other biologically derived molecules. UMBC’s program provides guidance and assistance to protect faculty, staff and students from exposure to biohazardous materials, to safely use recombinant DNA materials and to guard against the release of biohazardous materials that may harm people or the environment.
