Location

Date & Time
January 20, 2015, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Description
UMBC and the State of Maryland are continually seeking ways to bridge the funding gap -- support that can be difficult to obtain from traditional funding sources. These initiatives were created for this purpose, and were designed to advance innovations originating from university research to more commercially viable technologies.
This workshop will describe the resources available for commercialization of inventions by UMBC researchers. UMBC has a process in place to help -- starting with the submission of invention disclosures and patent applications, to the licensing of the patent or to the development of a start-up company. UMBC faculty will discuss their experiences in obtaining funding for their projects.
Who Should Attend?
Faculty, graduate students or postdoctoral researchers who:
• Have an idea or invention that may be of commercial value;
• Are interested in learning the next steps after an invention is made; or
• Want to learn the funding options and resources available to support the commercialization process.
Please register as soon as possible, as seating is limited.
