Building Research Capacity

UMBC is an innovator in building equitable and inclusive research capacity.

 

UMBC is currently leading two multi-institutional projects, funded by the National Science Foundation’s GRANTED program, that are enhancing resources, systems, and support for UMBC and our partnering institutions across Maryland and Delaware to carry out research.

 

“Building Capacity to Manage RISC: Investing in Research Integrity, Security, and Compliance at UMBC through Practices, Processes, and Partnerships”, awarded in August 2024, has formed a regional consortium that is helping mid-sized and smaller research universities respond to new and emerging Federal research security policies, in ways that promote equitable access to and implementation of research guidance. 

“GRANTS MaDE: Grants and Research Administration Networking and Training for Students across Maryland and Delaware’s 7 Minority Serving Institutions,” awarded in September 2023, has established a regional internship program in research administration for undergraduate students that is helping expand and diversify the research administration workforce and build cross-institutional research capacity.
