Building Research Capacity

UMBC is leading transformative partnerships for building research capacity.

 

UMBC is currently leading two multi-institutional projects, funded by the National Science Foundation’s GRANTED program, that are enhancing resources, systems, and support for UMBC and our partnering institutions across Maryland and Delaware to carry out research.

 

“Building Capacity to Manage RISC: Investing in Research Integrity, Security, and Compliance at UMBC through Practices, Processes, and Partnerships”, awarded in August 2024, has formed a regional consortium that is helping mid-sized and smaller research universities respond to new and emerging Federal research security policies, in ways that promote access to and implementation of research guidance. 

“GRANTS MADE at Scale: Implementing a Regional Research Administration Student Internship Program in Maryland and Delaware,” awarded in September 2025 with a prior pilot award funded in 2023, is helping expand the research administration workforce and build research capacity via a consortium of mid-sized and smaller universities in Maryland and Delaware.
