Step 1: Complete an invention disclosure form
Download the Invention Disclosure Form (IDF) and open the form using Adobe Acrobat. Fill-in the required information, and save the completed document to your files. Be sure to include a detailed description or manuscript fully describing the invention.
[Adobe Acrobat is available to UMBC users here: UMBC Adobe Creative Cloud]
Step 2: Obtain signatures from all the inventors
All inventors named on the form must sign the completed IDF. This can be done using the signature feature available in Adobe Acrobat. Alternatively, you may print the IDF and obtain physical signatures.
Step 3: Send the invention disclosure form to OTD
Submit the completed and signed IDF to OTD via email if possible, as this is the most efficient method of delivery. Email to dianem@umbc.edu or wmartin@umbc.edu. If you prefer, you may send it via campus mail, or submit by U.S. mail.
