Limited Submission Opportunities

A variety of external sponsoring agencies offer research, career, scholar, or educational funding opportunities that limit the number of submissions from a single institution. Most of these limits are on proposals, but some are on letters of intent or other stages in the application process.

To successfully increase funding opportunities available to the UMBC faculty, an internal selection process has been established by the Division of Research and Creative Achievement (ORCA) to assist with limited submission opportunities.

ORCA makes every attempt to identify limited submission opportunities and provide information on limited submissions in a timely manner; however, if a researcher should identify a limited submission that is not listed, please forward the announcement to limited-submission@umbc.edu.

Internal Selection Process — Researchers who are interested in a limited submission opportunity are required to participate in ORCA’s internal process for internal review and selection.

PROCEDURE:
E-mail a summary of what you would submit to the sponsor (three page max) and an appropriately formatted CV (e.g., NSF format for an NSF opportunity) to limited-submission@umbc.edu by 5:00 p.m. on the internal deadline date. Internal submissions do not need to be routed but should include budgets. Your department or college may be able to assist you in preparing these budgets. For opportunities where UMBC must provide matching funds, please attempt to obtain obligations from campus units who will contribute toward the match. Such commitments will make your internal submission stronger.

A confirmation notice will be forwarded upon receipt of your internal submission. If you do not receive a confirmation within three business days, please contact Don Engel.
