If an investigator is interested in pursuing an external funding opportunity for which the number of applications per institution is limited, that investigator is to contact the designee of the VPR to express this interest before beginning work on a proposal. Inmost cases, the designee of the VPR will email all members of the faculty to determine whether anyone else is interested in the funding opportunity. In all cases, the process and selection are at the discretion of the VPR, who will act in the strategic interest of the university.
