Tales of Scientific Computation at Ames and in NASA

Dr. Hans Mark, a leading expert in the fields of both aerospace design and national defense policy gave an inspiring presentation on the history of scientific computation at NASA Ames. As former Secretary of the Air Force, Dr. Mark initiated the establishment of the U.S. Air Force Space Command. During his tenure as Deputy Administrator of NASA, Dr. Mark oversaw the initial fourteen Space Shuttle flights and was a leading contributor to the establishment of the U.S. Space Station Program before serving for eight years as Chancellor of the University of Texas System. Dr. Mark was hosted at UMBC by Dr. Milton Halem, Director of the UMBC Center for Hybrid Multicore Productivity Research (CHMPR).
